Assassin’s Creed 2 finally gets the next-gen remaster we’ve longed for

Assassin’s Creed is one of the most popular action-adventure series in recent memory and with each release, Ubisoft aims to improve the experience for its consumers. Whether that improvement is achieved consistently is somewhat debatable.

Regardless of whether each game improves on its predecessor, the continued commercial success of theAssassin’s Creedseries is the main reason why this series will last for many more years to come. Since its inception in 2007, we have seen a lot of sequels and spin-offs, as to which one is the best is subjective. Perhaps one game that will likely get mentioned as one of the best games in the series is 2009’sAssassin’s Creed II.

In 2016,UbisoftreleasedAssassin’s Creed The Ezio Collectionwhich included remasters ofAssassin’s Creed II,Assassin’s Creed: BrotherhoodandAssassin’s Creed: Revelationsall bundled with previously released DLC. However, at launch, it’s fair to say that the visual quality of the remasters included in the collection was not to the expected standards of fans. Thankfully, now that several years have passed, I can confirm that this collection looks lush and performs as intended, especially when being played onPlayStation 5andXboxSeries X|S.

That being said, as good as these remasters look on current-gen consoles, thePCplatform not only has a distinct advantage of being able to power up games with up-to-date components but thanks to the wizardry of talentedmodders, beloved video games can look better and even have new content. One example of the fine work of modders is the aforementionedAssassin’s Creed II.

Thanksto the talentsof Claimer,Assassin’s Creed IInow looks better than ever due to the applied reshade, ray tracing, global illumination and more. What’s more, Claimer has promised to enhance all the games included in theEzio Collection. Happy days!
