Assassin’s Creed IIIisn’t a game you see pop up often when discussing the best Assassin’s Creed games.
It tends to be Ezio’s adventures that get the top spots, and then of courseAssassin’s Creed IV: Black Flagwhich is my personal favourite.
God knows where Assassin’s Creed Shadows will rank on everyone’s list
Assassin’s Creed IIIthough might as well becalled underrated, as it boasted some impressive game mechanics to make it stand out from otherAssassin’s Creedtitles, but almost none of them were carried through into future games.

Thevideofeatures a heavily-modded version of Assassin’s Creed III that’s running in 4K with raytracing switched on, and while you’d need a decent PC to enjoy these effects the Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 could probably replicate them too, especially the upcoming PS5 Pro.
The game’s protagonist Connor Kenway is shown walking through the fields and streets, getting into scrapes and parkouring across the rooftops like any good assassin, but with far more fluid movement and obviously greater graphical fidelity.
If you’re wondering how to replicate these results in your own game there are plenty of mods out there to do so, and guides that’ll show you where to look and what mods to install.

Assassin’s Creed IIIis a feast for the eyes when it’s given a little boost, and it’s a shame it doesn’t get the love it deserves from fans.
As forAssassin’s Creed Shadows, we’ve seen the gameplay looks the part in terms of visuals and open-world design, but many have criticised the movement and combat for being clunky and probably quite glitchy, hence thedelay.
The release date has been pushed back to sometime in 2025, though it’s unknown when exactly Ubisoft plans to drop it.
