Most of the hate stems from one of the game’s protagonists beinga black samurai, a real-life historical figure called Yasuke.

Now a petition has started calling for Ubisoft to cancel the game entirely because it doesn’t accurately depict what samurai were actually like.

It went on to say the game is “a serious insult to Japanese culture and history, and may also be linked to Asian racism. We call on Ubisoft to immediately cancel the release ofAssassin’s Creed Shadowsand show sincere research and respect for Japanese history and culture.”

Will Ubisoft listen to the outcry and cancelAssassin’s Creed Shadows? Absolutely not. Will it still sell well despite a bunch of man babies complaining about it? Definitely.

At the end of the day, it’s a video game, and while historical accuracy is all well and good, sometimes there needs to be a bit of levity to keep it both entertaining and appealing to those who maybe don’t know or care about that historical element.

Assassin’s Creed Shadowswill be released later this year on 12 November for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5 and PC, regardless of how many people whinge about it.
