There are so many beloved lead characters in video games. Link. Samus Aran. Arthur Morgan. Master Chief. That one weird-looking Mii we all have on our Wii that we made to rinse our best mate. But when it comes down to it, it seems there’s one hero who stands above the rest.
Assassin’s Creedfans would almost all agree thatEzio Auditore is the greatest of all the assassins. The lead character ofAssassin’s Creed IIwas an instant hit when Ubisoft introduced him to the world back in 2009, and it’s easy to see why.

The seasoned assassin managed to beat the likes of Agent 47, Geralt Of Rivia, Lara Croft, Jill Valentine, and Arthur Morgan to claim that coveted top spot. An impressive feat for a character who is actually relatively much younger than some of the other icons he went up against.
The final round was actually a showdown between Ezio andGod Of War’s Kratos. While in a real fight Kratos would have made confetti with Ezio’s insides to decorate Atreus' Birthday party, in terms of sheer popularity he fell to the fan-favourite assassin.
It’s a hell of a win for our boy, and proof that even 14 years after his debut, Ezio Auditore is the greatest assassin of them all.
