The Assassin’s Creed franchise is many things but it’s no secret that Ubisoft has always strayed from the darker side. However, an upcoming entry may just mark a new era for the long-running series.
It has been reported thatUbisofthas quite a fewAssassin’s Creedtitles in the pipeline butAssassin’s Creed Hexeis set to be the most interesting of all.

Although we are yet to receive too much information about this next entry, we do know that it will deal with the supernatural and have “strong feminine energy”. Additionally, its female protagonist, Elsa, could be deeply involved in the occult.

It seems as though Ubisoft are prioritising titles such asRed,Assassin’s Creed Infinityandmore. However, withHexescheduled to arrive a year afterAssassin’s Creed Red,it could be assumed that it will be on a much smaller scale than the open-world RPG setting planned for the latter.
With 2023’sAssassin’s Creed Miragetaking a step back from the massive open-world settings the series has been leaning into over the past 10 years, it would be nice to see this extended toHexe.As they say, less isn’t always more.
Not only that but the same report from Insider Gaming also teases thatAssassin’s Creed Hexeis set to be the darkest in the series so far. No, we don’t mean in terms of lighting.

With the game rumoured to delve into the world of the occult, this would make sense so we hope Ubisoft is not scared to shy away from the creepiness that comes with it. Either way, we will have to wait until at least 2026 to see.
