Assassin’s Creed Mirage lead Basim may return for another instalment

Assassin’s Creed is one of the most popular franchises in the video game industry and fans are eagerly awaiting its next major release, which should arrive as early as this year.

While no release date has been announced, Ubisoft is expected to releaseAssassin’s Creed Redlater this year which will be set in Feudal Japan and is rumoured to havetwo playable protagonists. However, little else is known about the game (at least officially) and at the time of writing “Red” is a codename but it seems that itsfull title has recently leaked.

The last mainline entry to be released wasAssassin’s Creed Miragein 2023. In ourreview ofAssassin’s Creed Mirage, we said: “For all of you who fell out of love with the Assassin’s Creed series during the RPG games, I’d urge you to take a leap of faith withAssassin’s Creed Mirage, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.”

Basim Ibn Ishaq was first introduced as an important NPC to the plot of 2020’sAssassin’s CreedValhalla. Basim was initially rumoured to get an expansion for Assassin’s Creed Valhallabut it’s said that expansion later morphed into its own standalone game,Assassin’s Creed Mirage.

“However, we have ideas on how we could extend the story of Basim, surely. But as of today, no post-launch content is planned forMirage,” he concluded.

It remains to be seen whether Basim will make a return one day, but I wouldn’t hold my breath for it to happen anytime soon, especially with Ubisoft no doubt having all its focus on the upcomingAssassin’s Creed RedandAssassin’s Creed Hexe.
