There’s a little bit of something for everyone in the Assassin’s Creed franchise. Traditionally, it’s the stealth-entries that have always been viewed as quintessential Assassin’s Creed, with the more recent RPG entries oftentimes written-off as the black sheep of the franchise.
It turns out though, you shouldn’t underestimate the popularity of the RPG entries - particularly with the wayAssassin’s CreedCodename Redis shaping up. Expected to arrive this year,Codename Redis said to be the final RPG instalment in the franchise. Taking players to Feudal Japan, the dual-protagonist game is rumoured to feature a male samurai and a female shinobi. Hopefully, it’s something we’ll learn more about in the coming months. In the meantime, fans have hailedAssassin’s Creed Odysseyas the best of the RPG trilogy - and it is a banger.
Take a look at the teaser trailer for the upcomingAssassin’s Creed Codename Redbelow.
Assassin’s Creed Odysseyscored a very respectable 83 on Metacritic back when it was released and I have to say, it’s one of my personal favourites in the franchise. Boasting incredible characters, an entertaining story, and a detailed open world, it’s oh so very easy to lose many, many hours toOdyssey. This is something Reddit user shaan1232 has just discovered.

“Odysseyis the best game of the RPG trilogy,” theybegan. “I can’t believe I waited so long to play it. […] I decided to try outOdysseysince I just felt sick of playingValhallaand HOLY. The combat feels as smooth asOriginsbut improved. […] The missions are interesting, and frankly I liked the story as much as I likedOrigins, no complaints from me there. The naval combat felt MUCH better than inOrigins, where I just wanted to get out of them as soon as possible. The world is much more interesting to me, and the world is definitely NOT empty, there’s so much to do everywhere.”
It’s a shame thatValhallatook on too much RPG bloat. I’m hoping thatCodename Redis far more refined. If the game is a major success, Ubisoft may want to rethink making it the final RPG entry. It’s so close to perfecting its RPG formula.
