You probably know Abubakar Salim best as Bayek, the protagonist ofAssassin’s Creed Origins.But what you might not know is that he’s releasing his very first game this year. And if you didn’t know that, you definitely won’t know there’s afree democurrently available to download and play onSteam.
Tales of Kenzerais a beautiful looking new metroidvania, which Salim showed off for the first time during last year’s Game Awards. The actor explained the game is very much a tribute to his late father. “For a long time,” he said during an emotional appearance on stage at The Game Awards, “I’ve struggled to find a way of communicating my journey with grief. To now be able to do that through Zau’s story of loss, growth and healing inTales of Kenzera: Zaufeels so right.”

Tales of Kenzeragenuinely looks like it could well be one of 2024’s best surprises. Between this and the excellent new Prince Of Persia game, we’re being absolutely spoiled for brilliant new metroidvanias. Let’s hope this is the first of many new releases from Salim, because the man clearly knows his stuff.
