One fan is going to great lengths to recapture that feeling of living on the high seas with their idea, ProJect Jackdaw, also known as The Jackdaw. It’s their aim to remake the sailing and ship combat that so many loved, withinUnreal Engine 5.

More recent updates to theirYouTube channelshow a lot of progress, particularly in the physics engine and how the ships interact with the ocean. The footage is drawing comparisons not just toAssassin’s Creed, but also toSkull and Bones, another Ubisoft title that is perpetuallyshown and then delayed.
Fans of pirate games have been clamouring for something new to fill the void, and it seems that if this project ever becomes playable, it will go a long way towards that.
