With the release ofAssassin’s Creed Miragenow having passed, our attention turns to the upcomingCodename Red. Ubisoft’s next release is due to take fans to a location they’ve long wished to visit, Feudal Japan.
WhereasMiragereturned theAssassin’s Creedfranchise to its stealthy roots,Codename Redis set to be thefinal instalment in the RPG strandof games, following in the footsteps of titles likeOdysseyandValhalla. We know that the game will feature afemale shinobi and a male samurai, with concept art of the formerrecently leaking online. A report has also claimed that the samurai will be basedon the real life figure of Yasuke, an African refugee who acted as a retainer and weapon-bearer to the Daimyo Oda Nobunaga. In a fresh tidbit, one insider now claims to have knowledge onCodename Red’s map too.

Elsewhere in the video, j0nathan teased that the map will have fewer markers than previous instalments, encouraging exploration. It’s believed that players will be equipped with a grappling hook like inSekiro: Shadows Die TwiceandGhost of Tsushima, whilst also having the ability to go prone and crawl through tall grass. It definitely sounds as ifCodename Redwill retain somewhat of an emphasis on stealth then alongside the RPG elements.
As always, this is a leak so do take it with an enormous pinch of salt. That being said, it all sounds very plausible and I’m hugely excited to see what Ubisoft has in store for us.
