
Ubisoft have always felt comfortable experimenting with gameplay mechanics in theAssassin’s Creedseries. They’ve tried standard stealth, larger open-world RPG-driven, smaller bite-size stories and now as we ramp up toCodename Red, we could be getting another overhaul.
Assassin’s Creed Red, an instalment set in Feudal Japan and featuring two protagonists, has no release date as yet and other details are thin on the ground. However, according to insiders, we might have a better idea of how the next game in the series will play.

Also noted is a ‘posture’ system that feels very reminiscent of games where parries and blocking takes precedent and players will have to hack away at the posture bar to possibly stagger the enemy or open them up to heavier attacks.
Away from the SoulsBorne comparisons is a ‘spy system’ which could allow players to establish a spy network to gain information and possibly open up opportunities to attacking targets. Of course, all of this should be taken with a pinch of salt, but given thatUbisoftare happy to play around with the franchise, we could see some big changes.
