Assassin’s Creed: Rift accidentally ‘revealed’ by Ubisoft

It’s a joyous day for fans of the franchise asAssassin’s CreedMirageis out now. Inour review, GAMINGbible’s Sam said that, “Assassin’s Creed Mirageis a glorious return to form for the series, and I had a joyous time playing through it. It’s great to see the series shift its focus back to stealth […] and I sincerely hopeUbisofttreatMirageas the new baseline going forward, whilst still evolving the series further.” The game garnered respectable scores of 77 and 78 on Metacritic, although I imagine devs were hoping for those numbers to be a tad higher. In comparison,Valhallaplaced in the low 80s. Still,Mirageis a solid AC game, but it seemingly almost had another name.

Take a look atAssassin’s Creed Miragein action below.

Reddit userThe_Iceman2288took to the website to write that while unlocking an achievement onAssassin’s Creed Mirage, the game popped up asAssassin’s Creed Rift. Interesting. It could be thatRiftwas simply the game’s codename and the Xbox backend hasn’t been updated - or perhapsRiftwas the originally planned title. It sounds like a perfectly valid AC title.

Next up in the franchise, we’ve gotAssassin’s Creed Codename Red- which to stick with the title theme, still hasn’t received its full name. The game is believed to featurea male samurai and a female shinobi, with the samurai reportedly being an African refugee according to leakers. The game is due to launch in 2024, so hopefully we’ll hear more in the coming months.

Before then, we’ve gotAssassin’s Creed Nexus- a new VR release - andAssassin’s Creed Jade, the franchise’s first free-to-play mobile RPG effort. All in all, Assassin’s Creed fans are feasting well.
