Many are claiming that the game doesn’t feature native Japanese lead characters because he came from Africa to Japan. This is even though Yasuke is a historical figure who has been portrayed in media many times before. His counterpart, Naoe, is Japanese, it should be noted.
Many of these fans are claiming a lack of historical accuracy from a series that has always played hard and fast with the rules. I’m sure Da Vinci didn’t run with a band of assassins, much like the mythological creatures ofAssassin’s CreedOdysseyaren’t real. Despite historical settings, Assassin’s Creed has never walked the line and stayed true to history in every facet.
This is video games, a place where, yes, there can be historically accurate titles, but it’s also a sphere where developers can play with certain aspects of adventure and action.
It seems that what many were expecting wasUbisoft’sversion ofGhost of Tsushimawhich would never happen because Ubisoft and Sucker Punch are two completely different studios.

Wherever you stand on the inclusion of Yasuke doesn’t instantly mean this will be a bad game, it will still feature all the hallmarks of anAssassin’s Creedtitle, and Ubisoft will continue to play with various aspects of history, as they always have.
