Assassin’s Creed Valhalla free for some of you to download and play this month

Certain Xbox fans will be able to download and playAssassin’s Creed Valhallafor free this month for a limited time.

TheAssassin’s CreedRPG will be joining theXbox Game Passline-up, alongside other heavy-hitting titles like theResident Evil2remake,We Happy FewandClose To The Sun.

The full list of additions was shared via the Xbox Game Pass Twitter account, whichpromisedit’ll be the “first of many” updates to the subscription service in 2024. If this is how they’re starting the year, it’s bound to be a good one for free games to play.

While it’snot the best Assassin’s Creed game out there, it doeshave its fans. It was part of what’s colloquially known as the RPG trilogy, whichUbisoftkicked off withAssassin’s Creed Origins. This was then followed up withAssassin’s Creed Odysseywhich lent more into the RPG mechanics, before finally concluding withAssassin’s Creed Valhalla, often called theworst of the three.

Since then Ubisoft has seemingly gone back to its roots of stealth-based gameplay, shown throughAssassin’s Creed Miragebeing more along the lines of the original games.

Ubisoft has confirmed that it’s not throwing away the RPG formula entirely, as the upcomingAssassin’s Creed: Codename Redwill also feature some of those gameplay elements, for better or worse.

Regardless, while the majority of fans aren’t too keen onAssassin’s Creed Valhalla, its inclusion on Xbox Game Pass is a good one, if you can get past the enormous installation size that is.
