Assassin’s Creed World War II setting looks stunning in Unreal Engine 5

One fan has imagined what an Assassin’s Creed entry set during World War II might look like, and it’s a project that’s left fans craving more.

It’s set to be an exciting year for theAssassin’s Creedfranchise. While last year’sAssassin’s Creed Miragetook the franchise back to its stealth-based roots, this year’sCodename Redwill return to the RPG formula. Set in Feudal Japan, the game is rumoured to feature a male samurai and a female shinobi, with the samurai possibly based around the real-life figure of Yasuke. Officially, we know very little about the game but it’sexpected to receive a full reveal this summerwhen the company holds its annualUbisoftForward. In the meantime, you may want to take a look at the aforementioned fan project.

Take a look atAssassin’s Creed Codename Red’s original teaser trailer below.

Theprojectis the work of YouTuber TeaserPlay. In the two-minute showcase, we see a wartime Parisian skyline before focusing in on an assassin, walking across a rooftop in classic Assassin’s Creed style before jumping and rolling onto the occupied street below. The graphics are stunning, which isn’t a total surprise given thatUnreal Engine5 was used. It goes to show that a full-length ‘modern’ Assassin’s Creed could very much work.

Speaking about the project, TeaserPlay wrote, “One of the environments that fans have been dreaming of for a long time is occupied Paris during World War II. In this video, we tried to provide a general picture of this dream. We hope that Ubisoft will realise this potential and we will see an official Assassin’s Creed in World War II. We used ray tracing, Nanite and Lumen to create this video in Unreal Engine 5.”
