The official word came down from the CEO of Larian Studios, Swen Vincke, who recently commented on the future of the game at GDC. It seems work had started on DLC, but was abandoned.

It appears that discussions aboutBaldur’s Gate 4were happening, but Vincke noted that the team appeared to be working towards it because they felt theyhadto, rather than wanted to. The team will now be taking a well-deserved holiday before returning to work on something completely new.

What’s next for Larian Studios? Some fans are speculating a return toDivinity: Original Sin, while others believe that a whole new RPG could be in the early stages. There’s no official word on what’s next, but fans can rest easy that the studio will create something magical.
