That’ll officially kick off whenSupermandebuts this coming July.

When that happens, the DCU will technically be without a Batman as Pattinson’s canonically doesn’t exist within this timeline which leaves two options: a new Batman will be cast, or Pattinson’s take on the caped crusader will be dragged across the multiverse and into the DCU.

It’s a topic which director ofThe Batmanand the upcomingThe Batman Part II, Matt Reeves, recently broached.

“It really comes down to whether or not it makes sense,” ReevestoldJosh Horowitz on the red carpet of the Golden Globes.

“There was a story I wanted to tell, we’re calling it the epic crime saga and all of that, which is the thrust of what we wanted to do, and it’s been important to me to be able to play that out.”

“James and Peter have been really great about that, and they’re letting us do that. What the future brings, I can’t really tell you, I have no idea right now, except that my head is down now about gettingThe Batman 2shooting and to make it something really special, which of course it’s the most important thing,” he continued.

He concluded, “I don’t know, we’ll have to see where that goes,” so Reeves is practically as unsure as we are.

“I think neither Gunn or Reeves at this point want the two sagas united,” one fan said in reply to the interview.

“I feel like Reeves’ Batman would be so great in a DCU,” another fan disagreed.

I’m afraid we’re all going to have to sit tight now as it’s unclear what the future holds.
