Batman: Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy is returning to cinemas

Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy will be returning to cinemas to celebrate Batman Day.

Arguably the greatest Batman films ever made, the Dark Knight trilogy will finally return toselect Showcase Cinemas, giving fans the chance to watchBatmanBegins,The Dark Knight, andThe Dark Knight Riseson the big screen once again.

Nintendo Switch fans can play Batman’s greatest video game adventures, with the upcoming Batman: Arkham Trilogy.

Nolan’s trilogy completely rebooted the character, who previously appeared in more campy films likeBatman(1989),Batman Forever(1995), and the one we try not to talk about,Batman & Robin(1997), which was so bad, it almost killed the caped crusader’s future big-screen appearances.

The Dark Knight trilogy aimed to make Batman cool again, set in a semi-realistic world as opposed to the comic-book-inspired Gotham Cities that came before. They were gritty, emotional and not afraid to show the physical and psychological toll the Batman mythos can have on Bruce Wayne and Gotham’s denizens.

They’re widely considered to be some of the best Batman media out there, with fans praising Christian Bale’s commitment to the role, many of which were disappointed, but also slightly relieved, that herefused to returnforDC’slatestflop,The Flash.

The credit can’t all go to Batman though, as the world’s greatest detective is often only as good as the rogues he goes up against, and The Dark Knight trilogy featured some of the very best Batman baddies. Tom Hardy’s Bane, Liam Neeson’s Ra’s al Ghul, Aaron Eckhart’s Two-Face and of course, Heath Ledger’s Joker were just a few of the perfect big-screen antagonists featured in the trilogy.

Now, fans can watch them all over again with all the bells and whistles of cinema, as all three films will be re-released for one day only, on the 16th of September. We’d recommend bringing plenty of food and drinks though, as you’ll be in the cinema for a while given each film is just short of 3 hours long.
