Christopher Nolan’sThe Dark Knight Risesisn’t quite as strong as its predecessor,The Dark Knight, but it’s still a must-watch film.
What you may have missed, however, is thatThe Dark Knight Risesalso features anotherBatmanvillain that most viewers actually missed - and he’s one of the strangest in the Rogues’ Gallery.

John Daggett isn’t a name that particularly screams ‘villain’ - certainly not in the same way that Penguin, Mr Freeze, or Deadshot might.
In the film, Daggett is an ally of Bane’s via his company Daggett Industries.
The film doesn’t overly linger on Daggett but those of you who know your Batman lore will be familiar with the character’s significance.

This captures the attention of criminal Matt Hagen who, as you might’ve guessed, is hoping that the cream will help him avoid the attention of the law.
Before long, Hagen has become a tad too dependent on the cream and soon becomes the villain known as Clayface.
This particular storyline isn’t touched upon in the Nolan trilogy but the mere inclusion of Daggett suggests that perhaps Clayface does exist within this version of Gotham.
It goes without saying thatThe Dark Knight Riseswas the final instalment in the Nolan trilogy so it’s not as if we’ll see Clayface feature further down the road but it’s still a fun nod to the wider Batman lore.
