Battlefield 2042 quietly killed off after an underwhelming run

Despite the game being in a far better state than when it first launched,Battlefield 2042is being shelved.

WhenBattlefield 2042launched in 2021, fans were devastated to see a once great FPS series in a miserable state.

Server issues, crashes, bugs and glitches were all present on launch day and proved to be much too frustrating for fans to bear, as many jumped ship quite early.

Seasonal content brought plenty of quality-of-life updates alongside new content, which over time ironed out the game’s core problems but unfortunately most of the damage had already been done.

Breedesaidin a recent blogpost: “We have an ambitious vision to embrace and unlock the vast potential of the series’ class-based squadplay and immersive, intense battles.”

In an additional post Breedeconfirmedthe team who works on the Battlefield games was expanding, bringing on new members who previously worked on theDead Spaceremake andStar Wars Squadrons, both of which were also EA games,

Of course Battlefield isn’t the only series EA is currently supporting, asan Iron Man gameis currently development, and it’s already been confirmed that athird Star Wars Jedi gameis on the cards.

News on where the Battlefield series might be going unfortunately hasn’t been shared, leaving it up in the air if the next game will be a continuation of the series, a remake of sorts or a straight-up reboot.
