Bloodborne is finally getting a remaster - but only on PS5 Pro

Finally,Bloodbornewill be getting the long-awaited remaster we’ve all been crying out for. Well, albeit via a technicality.

It’s hard to believe thatBloodbornewas released nearly 10 years ago on the PlayStation 4 and to this very day, it remains one ofFromSoftware’smost critically acclaimed and beloved classics.

So why hasn’t developer FromSoftware or publisherSonyInteractive Entertainment released a remake or remaster ofBloodborne? At this time, we can only speculate but it’s something that fans desperately want to see and its continued absence baffles the video game community.

For example,Demon’s Soulswas originally released in 2009 and its remake arrived in 2020 resulting in an 11-year gap. As forDark Souls, that window is even shorter with its original release in 2011 and its remaster in 2018, a gap of just seven years.

However, if you decide to pick up the now-confirmed andvery pricey PlayStation 5 Pro, you can play a remastered version ofBloodborne, kind of. As it stands, despite being backwards compatible with the standard PS5,Bloodbornestill performs at 30 frames per second.

Yet, the PlayStation 5 Pro gives certain backwards-compatible PS4 games an added boost in resolution and framerate.Gamers onReddit are hoping thatBloodbornewill benefit from a 60fps boost on Sony’s upcoming machine.

“If the PS5 Pro boost makesBloodbornerun at 60fps, I would consider buying it largely for that alone,” claimed i_like_fish_decks with silverinferno3 adding “I wonder how many people are gonna shell out 700 USD for aBloodbornemachine?”

“If we get a solid 60fpsBloodborne,I’ll buy the PS5 Pro on day one, " exclaimed TyrionLannister2012.

Reddit user tokyobassist offered a different take on the popular FromSoftware title suggesting that Sony may have other plans. “IfBloodbornewas possible Sony would have shown it [during the PS5 Pro reveal), but they didn’t so it won’t. I think it wants to remake it, so we gotta hope that it doesn’t suck.”

Bloodborneis out now on PS4 and is backwards compatible with PS5.
