
Over the last 20 years of its existence, the Call of Duty series has released some bangers, and perhaps some not so.
Some of the best in the series include the likes ofCall of Duty 2, the originalModern Warfareand the Black Ops trilogy. While the likes ofAdvanced Warfare,Infinite WarfareandVanguardnever perhaps hit the heights that fans would have hoped.
One game that exceeded the expectations of fans was 2012’sCall of Duty: Black Ops IIwhich was released for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.Black Ops IItakes place over two timelines, one during the late 1980s and the other in 2025, with both Alex Mason and Frank Woods as the protagonists. What’s more, it even featured some player choices that could result in multiple endings.

However, despite being a popular entry amongst fans, so much so that a petition is gathering serious traction, it receivedmixed reviews on Metacriticwith a score of 83 from critics and just 5.4 from users on Xbox 360.
The petition organiser Ethan Walker has called for a remastered version in a similar vein asCall of Duty: Modern Warfare Remasteredwhich was released in 2016 for PC,PlayStation 4andXboxOne. What’s more, the petition requests that not only should it feature the campaign and multiplayer, but perhaps maps from the originalBlack Opsas well asBlack Ops III, and of course Zombies.
Walker also mentions that should Activision decide to remasterCall of Duty: Black Ops II, it would be easy money for the publisher, and we totally agree. Yet, whether this idea ever comes to fruition is another matter altogether.

In the more immediate future, it is expected that the new Call of Duty to be released in 2023 could be areboot ofModern Warfare 3, and it couldsee the return of a certain villain.
