
Actor Kamar de los Reyes, perhaps best known in the gaming community for voicing villain Raul Menendez inCall of Duty: Black Ops II, has died at the age of 56.
A family repconfirmedto Deadline that de los Reyes died on Sunday 31 December following a brief battle with cancer. Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, the actor’s family later relocated to Las Vegas, where he grew up. In the 1980s, de los Reyes took the plunge and moved to Los Angeles to try and forge an acting career. Forge he did, boasting an illustrious career that spanned over 30-years with projects across both stage and screen.
De los Reyes’ first big break came in 1994 when he originated the role of Pedro Quinn in the acclaimed off-Broadway production of the playBlade to the Heat.Following this, he was cast in George C. Wolfe’s Shakespeare in the Park production ofThe Tempest. Hollywood’s doors soon opened with de los Reyes later working alongside Angelina Jolie in thrillerSalt, Oliver Stone inNixon, and Jennifer Lopez inThe Cell.

The actor also quickly became a familiar face on TV. From 1995 to 2009, de los Reyes starred as regular Antonio Vega in soap operaOne Life To Live, with appearances over the years inLaw & Order, Blue Bloods, Pretty Little Liars, Castle, The Passage, The Rookie, and most recently inAll American.
In 2012, de los Reyes made his video game debut, voicing villain Raul Menendez inCall of Duty: Black Ops II- a game often considered to be one of the strongest Call of Duty entries of all-time. The actor would later reprise the role in 2018’sBlack Ops 4and 2022’sVanguard.
Prior to his death, de los Reyes was continuing to shootAll Americanhaving also recently wrapped up a significant role in Hulu’s upcoming limited seriesWashington Black. De los Reyes was also believed to have a major part in the upcomingDaredevil: Born Again.
