Future Call Of Duty titles could be considered DLC rather than full-priced games, following the introduction of Call Of Duty HQ.
Annual releases forCall Of Dutytitles have been the normality for the series for years. Despite having many different developers throughout the years, like Treyarch, Sledgehammer Games and Infinity Ward,Activisionhas always been consistent, releasing a new title every year.

That tradition has wavered recently, and new insider information speculates the publisher plans to move away from it entirely, treating new releases as DLC expansions rather than standalone titles.

This follows the introduction of the Call Of Duty HQ app, which is essentially a way of playing the majority of modern COD titles through one service. Games likeCall Of Duty: Warzone, the newModern Warfareseries and evenclassic titles that recently went back onlinewill be accessible.
The next entry in the series,Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare III,will join the line-up when it launches, but itsSteampage seemingly implies it’ll future games will be listed as DLC expansions.
On the one hand, grouping all the games into one place will make it much easier to pick the ones you want to play, and titles you can’t see yourself revisiting can be uninstalled from the HQ app.

On the other hand, calling them DLC expansions but charging the same as a full-price game seems like an odd decision, and has caused a lot of concern about the state of new releases, mostly whether they’ll be finished products or not at launch.

Obviously, most of this only applies to PC players, as console releases will likely be separate applications rather than accessed through the Call Of Duty HQ app.
Only time will tell what the future of Call Of Duty will be like, in the meantime, fans are patiently waiting for the release ofModern Warfare III, which launches on the 10th of November later this year.
