Call Of Duty players are threatening to refund their pre-orders forModern Warfare 3, following Xbox’s upcoming crackdown on inappropriate multiplayer behaviour.

TheCall Of Dutyseries has a reputation for having ‘passionate’ online players, as in the ones that scream obscenities at their own, and opposing, teams when the match doesn’t go in their favour.

Some would consider this to be the prime Call Of Duty experience, as it can often lead to very humorous moments. I mean I’m sure we’ve all watched the odd ‘Call Of Duty Rage Compilation’ video on YouTube, right?

However,Xboxis trying to crack down on those that take things a step too far. There is plenty of inappropriate and unacceptable behaviour out there - and anupcoming software updatewill allow AI tomonitor your languageduring online games, and dole out the appropriate punishments if you say something you’re not supposed to.

All of the upcoming changes have been outlined in a recent Xbox blog post, introducing a new strike system, and dire consequences for those that fall victim to it. The postsaid: “The new system attaches strikes to every enforcement, ranging in severity based on inappropriate activity … Each player will now have a view of their enforcement history including strikes and the overall impact these have on their player record.”

It went on to say: “This revised system gives players a better understanding of enforcement severity and the cumulative effect of multiple enforcements.” Players that receive a total of eight strikes attached to their account “will be suspended from Xbox’s social features”, meaning no messaging, no parties, no multiplayer and other online benefits for an entire year.

It’s unlikely Xbox will back-pedal on the moderation decision, seeing as there is a certain level of toxicity that needs to be addressed - though it’s also unlikely it’ll have any significant effect on sales forCall Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.
