
Whether some of us like to admit it or not, Call of Duty isn’t going away anytime soon and as fans of the series, we couldn’t be happier.
Since its inception in 2003 on PC, theCall of Dutyseries has been the go-to military shooter for so many, offering high-octane single-player campaigns as well as a robust multiplayer offering.

Back in 2009’sCall of Duty: World at War, zombies were first introduced to the franchise. In the wave-based mode, a team of co-op players would work together in order to progress through its campaign, fighting off hordes of zombies that would increase in numbers as the game progressed.

In previous Call of Duty entries, the single-player campaign, traditional multiplayer modes, and Zombies have all been a part of the main game that you can purchase, whereas the battle royaleWarzoneis free-to-play. However, if Zombies were to become free-to-play, could this leave the door open for the same to happen with its traditional multiplayer? After all, this wouldn’t be too dissimilar toHalo Infinite, which has free-to-play multiplayer but its story campaign is paywalled. On Reddit,users have been speculatingas to why there are so many developers working onModern Warfare III, but if Zombies was to launch as a new free-to-play entity, it could explain why Activision have called in the troops.

Recently, Activision confirmed previous rumours thatCall of Duty: Modern Warfare IIIwill be this year’s series entryand a trailer revealed that players will bereturning to Verdanskin its single-player campaign.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare IIIwill be released on PC, PlayStation and Xbox on 10 November 2023.
