It doesn’t matter which online multiplayer game you play nowadays, there is a good chance that you will encounter pesky cheaters and the likes of Call of Duty is no exception.
I remember back in the days of thePlayStation3 andXbox360, cheaters were seemingly very prominent and often I’d hear the term “lag switching”. From what I can remember, there wasn’t a lot that honest players could do about it other than reporting the cheating player and backing out, hoping to never encounter them again.

In the latest attempt to tackle the ever-persistent problem of cheaters inCall of Dutygames,Activisionanti-cheat software Ricochet (not the wrestler) will now boot those players out of the game if it has been detected that tools are being used to improve aim using a keyboard and mouse. In some cases, these tools can not only auto-aim on opposing players but they can even be detect and kill players through walls, commonly known as ‘wallhacks’.
“Our security detection systems now target players using tools to activate aim assist while using a mouse and keyboard. The Call of Duty application will close if detected,”tweetedCall of Duty Updates.
Will these latest measures do the trick in the war against cheaters in Call of Duty? Perhaps for the short team at least. Unfortunately, selling hacks and cheat software is such a lucrative business for some, that life often finds a way. That being said, at least something is being done about it.
The latest entry in the Call of Duty series is the reimaginedModern Warfare IIIand it is out now on PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
