Cyberpunk 2077 just got a major new update you can download now

CD Projekt Redjust released patch 2.13 forCyberpunk 2077and the general reception to the update has been… pretty negative.

Patch 2.13went live last night and looks to address something that fans have been asking for since 2023: AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 support.

For those unaware of what exactly FSR 3 does, according to CD Projekt Red themselves, it will allow players to combine “image upscaling with frame generation technologies to generate high resolution frames at fast frame rates”.

In short, the setting will makeCyberpunk 2077run better on mid to low-range graphics cards.

The upside to FSR 3 is that the setting will play nice with whatever graphics card your PC supports, as opposed to something like NVIDIA DLSS (which, as the name implies, will only optimally support NVIDIA graphics cards).

The response to the patch has been pretty sour for a number of reasons however, which is sort of surprising considering how little the patch has actually changed (although that in itself is one of the gripes some folks have).

The first gripe many have is that the patch is a PC-exclusive affair, which has made Xbox owners feel a little salty considering that the FSR option they currently havestill doesn’t function properly.

The second grievance is that while FSR 3 is definitely going to be a boon for some, FSR 3.1 has been available for some time now - which means this newupdate was alreadyoutdated before it even went live.

And the final, probably most pressing complaint is that apparently the patch has actually impacted performance for many players on PC.

“anyone else noticing a massive frame rate drop on this update?”asked Successful-Body9573in the Reddit thread for the update. “i was getting 70-80fps max settings on my 4080 now im getting 50fps”

Some have reported that the issue can be fixed with a simple restart, so hopefully it’s going to be a straightforward fix for the majority of players.
