Cyberpunk 2077 just got the update we’ve all been dreading

WhenCyberpunk 2077launched in 2020 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, to say that it was a buggy state is an understatement. Seriously, it was an absolute mess, especially on consoles.

Then in February 2022, developersCD Projekt REDreleased the highly anticipatednew-gen update forCyberpunk 2077and it changed the fortunes of the sci-RPG in an instant. Not only didCyberpunk 2077look and play like the game that had been promised all those years ago, but it also benefited from a whole host of quality-of-life improvements.

In the months that followed, CDPR worked tirelessly to add even more improvements to the game which led to the release of its expansion,Phantom Libertystarring the charismatic Idris Elba as the brooding Solomon Reed.Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Libertyis widely regarded as one of the best expansions to be released in years.

That being said, we know it’s not totally the end ofCyberpunk 2077because as reconfirmed in the same financial report, we know that aCyberpunk 2077sequel is on the way. However, as of right now, CD Projekt RED’s devotion has diverted to not only theCyberpunk 2077sequel (dubbed Project Orion) but also thenext Witcher(Project Polaris) game.

CD Projekt RED even has a Witcher multiplayer game in the pipeline so there are certainly exciting times ahead for fans of Geralt of Rivia and of course, the Cyberpunk franchise. At this time, none of the new projects from CDPR have release dates but they’re all likely to be years away.

As for the present,Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Libertyis out now on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. As forThe Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, it’s available on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
