Cyberpunk 2077 live-action adaptation officially announced from Mr Robot producers

Who would’ve thought back whenCyberpunk 2077was released back in 2020 that in 2023 the franchise would be flexing its success?

Night City is well and truly thriving - and it’s easy to see why so many players arecalling it their favourite video game location. Between Update 2.0 and the release of thePhantom Libertyexpansion,Cyberpunk 2077is finally living up to its true potential - completing its redemption arc, you might say. Just today,CD Projekt REDtook to Twitter to announce that the game has sold a whopping 25 million copies, whilePhantom Libertyhas sold 3 million copies in the space of just one week. That’s not all that’s been announced though. We may already have the animatedEdgerunners, but a live-actionCyberpunk 2077adaptation is also on the way. Huge news.

Needless to say, theCyberpunk 2077project is in safe hands. Specifically, CD Projekt RED will work closely with head of television Garret Kemble, director of development Ryan Schwartz, and chief creative officer David Levine - so it’s sounding more like a TV series than a film. Levine previously oversaw drama output at HBO including work onTrue Detective, WestworldandGame of Thrones.

The project is in the early development stage. With the writer’s strike now over, a screenwriter is being sought out. It’s said that CDPR’sCyberpunk 2077team will be closely involved in the creative process. Could we have anotherThe Last of Ussized success on our hands in the future? We hope so.
