Cyberpunk 2077 live-action adaptation update isn’t what we wanted to hear

Cyberpunk 2077is supposed to be getting a live-action adaptation, whether it be a film or a TV series, but it’s hit a bit of a snag.

With the intense and memorable story thatCyberpunk 2077has, it was inevitable that it was going to get a live-action version at some point, as even stars from the game like Idris Elba have expressed interest inseeing it turned into a film.

Idris Elba starred as one of the mina characters of thePhantom LibertyDLC expansion, which you can see below.

CD Projekt REDhas also shown interest in seeing it become a film or TV project, and we’ve already seen one succeed in the form ofCyberpunk: Edgerunnerson Netflix.

Unfortunately, production on the announced live-action project is moving much slower than anticipated as a recent updatesaysCD Projekt RED will only be eying up potential partners in 2025.

While there are plenty of production companies to choose from, I think many fans will agree that the IP needs to be kept away from Netflix.

Netflix gave usThe WitcherTV serieswhich was loved for one season before it all went wrong, with scripts that rubbed fans the wrong way and even its lead starHenry Cavill jumping shipbefore the series finished.

Amazon Prime Video might be a better option, after all, it knows what a successful adaptation looks like withFalloutand it’ll soon be producing aWarhammer 40k serieswhich will once again star Henry Cavill in another one of his dream roles.

While we won’t seeCyberpunk 2077in live-action any time soon, with the right team and attention to detail, it could be something truly special - but some patience is required.
