With the industry becoming more and more reliant on both digital and online releases, there are - as I’m sure you’re aware - major concerns over preservation.
Well, GOG is doing something about that, launching the GOG Preservation Program.
The initiative essentially seeks to ensure that ‘classic’ games remain compatible with both modern and future systems.
If they’re not, GOG’s team is applying modification improvements to ensure that’s the case.

When a game passes GOG’s various tests, a ‘Good Old Game’ seal of approval is applied which allows users to view what was improved for each individual title in order to maintain compatibility.
Fallout: New Vegasis one of those included games.
“Time is erasing the games that shaped you,” the websitereads. “Forgotten, incompatible, unplayable. We can fight back.”

Among the games supported so far areResident EvilBundle,The Witcher: Enhanced Edition, System Shock 2,Fallout, andDragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition.
In fact, there are 100 games in the preservation programme so far, with 501 improvements made.
More games will eventually be added.

There’s only one downside, and that’s that support applies to Windows only at the moment, so Mac and Linux users won’t be able to appreciate the team’s work.
Even still, when preservation is such a major concern, it’s incredible to see a company as big as CD Projekt RED taking a stand and doing something about it.
