Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty is officially the end of Cyberpunk 2077

The release ofCyberpunk 2077’s upcoming expansionPhantom Libertycertainly won’t spell the end of the Cyberpunk franchise. It is the final major update or DLC we’ll see released for the 2020 game though as CD Projekt RED devs switch their focus and efforts over to the next instalment in the The Witcher series.

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Libertyis set to release on 26 September, so we don’t have too much longer to wait. The game will mark the return of Keanu Reeves’ Johnny Silverhand, plus introduce Idris Elba’s new brooding Solomon Reed. At Gamescom’s Opening Night Live, it was announced that a bunch of updates coming toPhantom Liberty- including the introduction ofvehicular combat, a new relic skill tree, redesigned cyberware and revamped police - would also be brought into the main gamevia Update 2.0. We don’t have an exact release date for Update 2.0 but it is due to release ahead ofPhantom Liberty.

CodenamedPolaris,The Witcher 4will kickstart a brand new saga in The Witcher series. It’s not been confirmed which character will lead the game. It doesn’t seem as if it’s Geralt. Many have suggested Ciri but who knows? It could be a brand new face.

CDPR have confirmed in recent days that they’ve now got a whopping 260 devs working on the project, making it their second-biggest project after the release ofPhantom Liberty. I’d expect the dev numbers will exceedPhantom Liberty’s once that expansion is out the door and into the world. CDPR also has small teams working on the codenamedSiriusand ‘other projects’.
