Cyberpunk 2077 publisher confirms surprise new release coming this year

Cyberpunk 2077publisher has confirmed that we’ll be returning to Night City once more later this year in a surprising new release.

Despite its highly publicised launch woes, it’s fair to say thatCD Projekt RED’sCyberpunk 2077went on to become one of the best RPGs in years. Building on the success ofThe Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, inCyberpunk 2077, players are taken to the futuristic, dystopian world of Night City, a place where crime most certainly pays.

Cyberpunk 2077went on to achieve great success outside of video games with the fantastic Netflix series,Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, as well as board games, novels, countless merchandise and much more.

What’s more, in 2023, CD Projekt RED released the highly anticipated expansion forCyberpunk 2077withPhantom Libertystarring Idris Elba as the brooding Soloman Reed.

In arecentCDPR blog post, details on the publisher’s financial earnings were revealed for the third quarter of 2024. It confirmed thatCyberpunk 2077has sold over 30 million copies and itsPhantom Libertyexpansion, eight million copies.

What’s more, following in the footsteps ofCapcom’s Resident Evilseries,Cyberpunk 2077and its expansion are coming to compatible iOS devices later this year. Hopefully, CDPR will achieve more success on the mobile platform, unlikeResident Evil which proved to be a major flop.

At this time, no release date has been announced forCyberpunk 2077andPhantom Libertyfor iOS devices but considering we’re nearly in December, I would imagine that date is not too far away.
