Cyberpunk 2077 sequel tease leaves fans seriously unhappy: ‘this would suck’

The fans might be being a tad dramatic here, but the fact remains that CD Projekt RED teasing thepossibility of multiplayerin the sequel has received a mixed response. Yet, let’s not forget that it was a feature originally intended for the first game before its dismal launch scrapped that idea.

We’re not certain of future features, but no one can deny how amazingCyberpunk 2077: Phantom Libertyis.

Still, that isn’t stopping fans from hating on the notion. “Personally, I dislike the idea,” one fan said. “I do believe multiplayer would be a big distraction. Not only does some subset of the team need to be devoted towards the effort, but it will almost definitely also affect single-player gameplay.”

Even fans of multiplayer games have said it “would suck”, so what’s the issue?Accordingto one gamer, it’s not inCD Projekt’s “wheelhouse” to create a multiplayer game. “CDPR excels at massive single player RPGs boasting extreme levels of environmental detail and phenomenal writing.”

They continue, “Multiplayer isn’t in their wheelhouse, and I think it would be a mistake for them to attempt to branch into that market. They wouldn’t be able to do it better than developers that specialise in multiplayer games, and if they divert resources from the single player experience to multiplayer development they’re likely to end up with a game that fails to satisfy in either mode.”

In truth,Cyberpunk 2077’s sequel doesn’t need to introduce multiplayer, despite the fact some gamers will want it. After all the work put into turning the first game from zero to hero, the franchise is powerful and immersive enough without ever considering co-op modes.

Whatever is introduced in the next game, we simply hope it doesn’t alter the atmosphere of this now beloved game.
