Days Gone surprise return slammed by creator

I, along with many others, have playedAstro Botand it’s a damn delight. It spends much of its runtime paying homage to Sony legends and classic games, but apparently the creator ofDays Gonedoesn’t see it that way.

The director of the game, John Garvin, took to Twitter after seeing his protagonist Deacon St John appear in the latest Sony hit.

Astro Botis easily a contender for game of the year with its charm and heart

“My character [has been] reduced to a cartoon shill promoting some small game,” said Garvin in what feels like a bitter way to comment on the appearance of ‘Deek’ who appears next to PlayStation greats.

Garvinremarked, “Kinda sad that Deek has been reduced to promoting other games … well done Bend Studio! Way to protect your legacy!”

Fans were quick to point out that it’s an honour thatDays Goneappeared in the 30th-anniversary game.

One Twitteruser said, “Nah, that’s a salty low blow.Days Goneand Deacon are part of Astro Bot 30th anniversary PlayStation celebration. Other iconic characters like Sweet Tooth didn’t even make the cut.”

Another userpoints out, “This game is the highest rated of the year … it’s all about honoring iconic characters in gaming, and Deek is one of them. I thought it would actually make you happy, since he’s shown the same respect as Kratos and the others.”

Surely appearing in Astro Bot is a good thing. It could easily be seen as a nod to others to play these games.

While playingAstro Bot, there were many appearances for games I loved and others that reminded me I needed to make time for some of these classics.

If someone sees Deek and decides to playDays Gone, it’s a win for everyone.
