For those who aren’t aware, Def Jam is a fighting game franchise that sees real-life hip-hop stars and other celebrity faces battle it out in wrestling matches, a bizarre concept, but one that became incredibly popular amongst fans, thus spawning several titles and sequels. The last game in the series was in 2007, so it’s long overdue for a continuation.
Weirdly enough, it’s not the only EA game fans are demanding a revival for, as recently sports fanatics called for thereturn of SSX,a snowboarding video game franchise that last saw a release in 2012. Fans of the series want to see it return, starting with a remake of one of its earliest titles,SSX Tricky.
While it’s unlikely EA will devote its time and resources to resurrect the Def Jam series, it’d definitely have a place amongst a modern audience, and there’s no doubt fans won’t stop asking for it until their efforts are officially acknowledged.
