At the time of writing,Dragon’s Dogma 2has been ratedMixedon its Steam page following several review bombs.

The review bombs began when players who’d bought the game through the Steam store noticed several microtransaction options appear on its product page, which seemingly weren’t there when it was still up for preorder.

Optional microtransactions include fast travel points, Rift Crystals which are used as special currency in the game, items that’ll let you re-customise your character and even a camping kit that takes up less of your weight limit than the default one found in game.

Of course,Dragon’s Dogma 2is a single-player only experience so none of these options are pay-to-win, they’re essentially timesavers but players are still unhappy that they’re being offered at all, especially for gameplay options like fast travel.

So,Dragon’s Dogma 2is off to a pretty poor start which is a crying shame because critics have loved the game and given it favourable scores on Metacritic.

Players will undoubtedly have just as much fun, but the surprise microtransactions have rained on the game’s parade a bit.
