Electronic Arts will be closing two games that belong to major franchises for good early next year.
It’s not uncommon for publishers to shut down games for good, especially as the concurrent player count dwindles over time. What’s more, especially when games are around a decade old, which is whyEAhas come to this decision.

Released in 2015,Rory McIlroy PGA Touris the first golf game since Tiger Woods was dropped from the label following a string of controversies. The PGA Tour series has been around since 1990 and is one of EAs longest serving properties alongsideFIFA/EA Sports FC.
What this means forRory McIlroy PGA Tour, is that as of 16 January 2025, EA will be removing it from digital platforms. At that point, it will no longer be available to purchase nor will it be playable online. You can however still play the physical version of the game offline.
OnceRory McIlroy PGA Tourhas been delisted, there will only be one golf game playable online for the EA series and that’sEA Sports PGA Tourwhich was released in 2023. So at least that game is safe, for now.
That being said, if you’re keen on playing an alternative golf game, there is a series from 2K. The most recent game in that publisher’s series isPGA Tour 2K23which features the aforementioned Tiger Woods on the front cover.
