With its first expansion,Shadow of the Erdtree, released back in June of this year and being just as good as its base game, it is no wonder that fans are eager for more.
Courtesy of aninterview, since translated from Japanese, theFromSoftwaredirector and president has revealed that the studio is currently working on multiple projects in a “variety of genres”.
Whilst that’s good, it’s the following comment that’s left fans concerned: “We’re not really considering developments such as anElden Ring 2.”

That means a sequel toElden Ringis not currently in production, but that doesn’t mean that it won’t be in the future.
In fact, Miyazaki specifically wouldn’t rule out expanding the IP “in some form in the future".
So it’s not all bad, right?
The news is bittersweet as although FromSoftware is capable of making some incredible games and it would be good to see it delve into other genres, fans would still love anElden Ringsequel.

As you can expect, the reception to this news was mixed and people took to social media to share their thoughts.
Paul Lennon on Twittersaid: “I’m all for developers moving on and doing new things. I’m no FromSoft fan, butElden Ringbeing a tremendous ‘one off’ game is something I find extremely appealing.”
TristanPR77had their own ideas: “If they are not working onElden Ring 2,then they may be working on a new IP orBloodborne2.”
Regardless of what the studio’s next project is, there is no doubt that it will be just as incredible as its predecessors.
