In avideotitled ‘Elden Ring’smost USED mechanics are a trap…”, Leviathan explains that simple mechanics that we all rely on can actually do more harm than good.
The mechanics in question are the dodge roll and lock-on features.
Dodge rolling is something that we all take advantage of during punishing boss fights and I definitely give gymnastics a run for their money with my rolls. However, Leviathan claims that jumping is actually a much better strategy as you are more likely to avoid AOEs and it even consumes less stamina.

The lock-on feature can also be a hindrance as it only allows our players to move based on the enemy’s position. However, locking-off can allow you more freedom of movement to strafe and even side-step the boss to confuse them.
Leviathan recommends never being locked-on to an enemy if they are about to attack from above.
I know what I’m going to be testing out this evening.
