Now, we all know soulsborne titles are challenging. Half the fun is fighting colossal bosses and navigating treacherous areas, making those narrow victories when you’re out of healing items all the more sweeter.

Adding to that difficulty, you can never pause in FromSoftware’s games. Personally I think this is fine, as having to make decisions on the fly without opportunity to pause and think about your next move adds to the challenge, but speaking from experience I’d have loved the option to pause the Godfrey fight when I heard the postman at the door.

Fortunately, there isa pause menu inElden Ring, you just have to jump through a few more hoops than merely pressing the start button.

If you hit start, go to your inventory, hit the “help” button and select “menu explanation,” this will pause the game for you.
