WhileThe Elder Scrolls V: Skyrimis without question the most popular entry in Bethesda’s fantasy RPG series, 2006’sOblivioncomes a close second.
I’ll always remember the opening moments ofOblivion, waking from a prison cell, escaping through the dungeons with Emperor Uriel aka Patrick Stewart, only to be suddenly framed for his murder. The Elder ScrollsIV: Oblivionwas an epic adventure that will not soon be forgotten that in some ways with its stunning and vast open world, shaped what would eventually become 2011’sSkyrim.

Recently, rumours have been circulating thatOblivionis getting anofficial remake from Bethesda. Obviously, those rumours should be taken with a pinch of salt until proven otherwise, though we hope it won’t be at the detriment ofThe Elder Scrolls VI, which was revealed five years ago and we still have no clue what it’s about! SeriouslyBethesda, what gives?!

Thankfully, until that official remake ofOblivionmay or may not arrive, the wonderful modding community is on the case with its own stunning 4K remaster. The wonderful modder that we have to thank for the ‘HD Textures’ is Bobobass84.
What’s more, not only does the mod enhance the visuals of the base game, but also its DLC, including the expansion ‘Knights of the Nine’. It’s mods like this which make me a little jealous that I’m not a PC gamer.
In somewhat related news,Fallout 3is being remade usingFallout 4’sCreation Engineand the results are truly fantastic.
