
TheFalloutseries began in 1997 when it was a top-down RPG, not too dissimilar to the perspective seen in the likes ofDiabloandBaldur’s Gate. Even back then, Fallout was a beloved franchise and that love continued with its sequel the following year.

However, whenBethesdaacquired the rights to the Fallout franchise, the post-apocalyptic RPG became more popular than ever following the release ofFallout 3in 2008 for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Since that time, we’ve been blessed with some fantastic sequels such asFallout: New Vegasin 2010 andFallout 4in 2016.

Yet, following the launch of Amazon Studios’ live-action adaptation this month (which has just beenrenewed for a second season), the Bethesda series looks like it’s on its way to being more popular than ever. What’s more, as a result of the Amazon series,Fallout 4and even the likes ofFallout 76andFallout Shelterhave beenclimbing high in the Steam charts.
What’s more, later this month, we’re finally being treated to the long-awaited freeFallout 4new-gen updateon PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. So don’t be surprised if you see even more of your friends playingFallout 4in the months ahead.
Fallout 4is available to play at no extra cost for those who subscribe to Xbox Game Pass as well as PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium. Hopefully,Fallout 4and all of its predecessors can continue to keep us busy untilFallout 5finally arrives, whenever that time may be.
