Fallout 5 be damned, we’re officially getting a new open world Fallout this year

Fallout’s renaissance continues and it is oh so very lovely to see. It was certainly expected that Amazon’s TV adaptation might renew some interest in the franchise but I don’t think any of us expected that interest to be quite this monumental.

If you haven’t yet started watching Prime Video’sFallout, I highly urge you to - and it’s accessible to newcomers just as much as it is for seasoned fans.

In the days following the show’s premiere,Bethesdaannounced that they’d welcomed inover 5 million Fallout playersacross all games.

Although most of us have found ourselves back in the clutches ofFallout 4, Fallout 76has welcomed in over 1 million new and returning players alone.

It’s not my favourite Fallout entry but it is nice to see that it’s somewhat settled into a groove over the years.

If it’s been a while since you gaveFallout 76a whirl, you may want to revisit it as an enormous new expansion is on the way titledSkyline Valleythat could give us a Fallout fix untilFallout 5arrives.

We sat down with the cast of Prime Video’sFalloutto play snog, marry, irradiate. Take a look at the video below.

The expansion will add a new region allowing players to explore southern Appalachia.

Unfortunately, it’s not due to land until later this year (although that’s still eons earlier thanFallout 5) but developers have just dropped a new preview to coincide with the opening of a test server.

Of course, we’re all itching to know more about that electric storm that features in the expansion’s promotional imagery.

Stoltz looks to be a key figure in the expansion. Naturally, players will be able to build C.A.M.P.s in the new valley - plus there are new Robo Brains called Storm Goliaths and new wildlife forms to hunt.

Finally, it was revealed that a public event will be held called ‘Dangerous Pastimes’ which involves an electrical light show.

We’ll certainly be keeping an eye on that coveted release date.
