Fallout: Cascadia is ‘twice the size of Fallout 4’, and it’s free

I miss Fallout. Sure,Fallout 76offers a different kind of multiplayer action, andFallout Shelteris good fun, but when you’re playing a proper, single-player Fallout RPG? Nothing else compares.

Of course, we have a long old wait untilFallout 5, which remains nary a glint in Todd Howard’s eye whileBethesdaputs its efforts into improvingStarfieldand launchingThe Elder Scrolls VI. Heck, I’d be surprised ifFallout 5even arrived this gen, given all the talk of next-genPlayStation and Xbox consoles recently.

Well, we have some good news and bad news for you. The good news is that there are tons of total conversion mods forFallout 4, many of them so ambitious they might as well beFallout 5. The bad news is that the biggest and best among them don’t actually have release dates.

TakeFallout: Cascadia,a hugely ambitious piece of work that usesFallout 4’s engine and creates an entirely new adventure set in post-war Seattle. The team of modders promises new weapons, armour, stories to discover, and characters to meet. As if that wasn’t enough, the open-world itself is “almost twice the size ofFallout 4”.

With so much being promised, it’s perhaps not surprising that the team of volunteers can’t give us a release date. However, we do know that when the mod launches, it will be completely free to download and keep. What did we do to deserve modders?

The only question now: willFallout: Cascadiaarrive beforeFallout 5? We’ll have to wait and see.
