The success ofFallout: New Vegasis all the more remarkable when you consider that it was originally intended to be an expansion toFallout 3. Over the years, there have been rumours that there will be aFallout: New Vegas 2and it’s something that thedevelopers at Obsidian Entertainmentwould love to see also. Sadly, there has been no indication that it will ever happen, though we do know thatwe will be gettingFallout 5at some point.

Responding to a tweet regarding speculation on the rumoured The Elder Scrolls spinoffs, Avellone said “This is true. One of the Elder Scrolls proposals (which I pitched) was intended to serve the same function asFallout: New Vegasdid betweenFallout 3andFallout 4, to provide more adventures in the setting during the years before the next Bethesda release.”

Avellone went on to suggest that he wanted to release The Elder Scrolls games regularly similar to the Call of Duty series “but less rushed”. It’s a shame that this proposed idea never came to fruition because I like the prospect of having at least one standalone spinoff in The Elder Scrolls series. Oh well, I guess we can’t mourn what we never had.

You can play much of The Elder Scrolls and Fallout series on PC and Xbox at no extra cost if you subscribe to Xbox Game Pass. As for whenThe Elder Scrolls VIorFallout 5might be released, expect them to be a few years away, at least.
