While Fallout has never leaned too heavily into the scares, it has dabbled in the odd bit of terror, typically through some creepy vaults with disturbing lore of monster infestations. Modders took one look at the messed up stuffBethesdaincluded in their games and thought “we can do better”, which leads us toFallout: Vault 1080, a mod that introduces four brand new areas, a new questline to follow, and some superb lighting effects.

Glancing at the screenshots tells you every you need to know, as the mod boasts some jaw-dropping lighting that turns the game into a truly horrifying experience, especially when you’re stuck in the dark.

Players will explore decrepit structures filled with monsters that you probably won’t see at first glance if you don’t have something to light your way, meaning they’ll need to stay on their toes and check every corner to survive the quest.
