Fantastic Four considering Matt Smith to play Reed Richards, says insider

Industry insiders have revealed Doctor Who star Matt Smith has been offered the role of Mr Fantastic in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Months after it was announced theMCUwould be welcoming Marvel’s first family back onto the big screen, we’re still none the wiser as to who will be playing Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm and Ben Grimm.

We saw a brief glimpse of what could have been with John Krasinski’s appearance as Mr Fantastic inDoctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness, but Krasinski is reportedly doubtful he’ll be returning to the role.

Since he passed the key to the Tardis over to Peter Capaldi in 2013, Matt Smith has been busy, with several screen appearances in TV shows likeThe CrownandHouse of the Dragon, as well as film roles likeMorbius.

The other members of the Fantastic Four are also without actors at the time of writing, though they have their own set of rumours and fan-casts. Popular choices include Margot Robbie as Susan Storm (Invisible Woman), Paul Mescal for Johnny Storm (Human Torch), and Daveed Diggs as Ben Grimm (The Thing).

TheFantastic Fourwill reportedly be a part of Phase Six of the MCU, with production set to begin in January 2024, so we’ll definitely have official confirmation of the cast before then, provided there are no delays.

The film is currently scheduled for release in February 2025.
