According to a recent report,Far Cryfans can expect two new games between 2025 and 2026 with one being a mainline entry codenamed ‘Project Blackbird’. The mainline entry is reportedly set to be released before the second title, codenamed ‘Project Maverick’, which is rumoured to be the first multiplayer entry in the series.

AlthoughInsider Gamingclaims this information is from an official source, it is still yet to be confirmed so remember to take this information with a pinch of salt. However, it does line up with rumours that have been swirling online over the past few years.

Regardless of what we can expect next in the Far Cryseries, it will need to do remarkably well in order to boost ratings. SinceFar Cry 3,the FPS series has been rapidly declining in popularity with many fans complaining about its copy-and-paste gameplay and story. As a result,Far Cry 6sits at just a 5.2 user rating on Metacritic. In comparison,Far Cry 3is way ahead with a generally favourable 8.4.
